JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Assistant Shipping Manager, the Evening Shift Warehouse Supervisor coordinates the receiving, shipping and handling activities of our distribution center while actively participating in field work. He/she supports and mobilizes a team of at least five employees (one team leader and four forklift operators). He/she ensures order compliance, compliance with OHS standards, optimal use of warehouse space, while contributing to continuous improvement and planning of seasonal volumes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations – Receiving and Shipping
- See to the day-to-day organization of the warehouse and make adjustments as necessary to meet shift demand and weekly needs.
- Participate in operational work (≈ 60%): forklift driving (seated and standing lift), handling and direct support on the floor.
- Ensure the compliance of orders with customer requirements (quantity, labeling, documentation), the coordination of receipts, shipments, inter-factory transfers and transfers to 3PL warehouses.
- Use computer systems (WMS, ERP, Outlook, Excel) to monitor operations and adjust priorities.
Supervision and coaching of staff
- Supervise the evening shift and support the team leader in the distribution of tasks and the organization of work.
- Manage greetings, absences, lateness, timesheets and discipline.
- Participate in staff recruitment and evaluations.
- Maintain a positive work climate that is aligned with the company’s values.
- Communicate company and work objectives to all staff under his/her responsibility.
Quality and safety
- Apply and enforce OHS standards, particularly around forklifts, pallet racks, pallet trucks, etc.
- Quickly identify risks, damage (e.g. racking) or non-compliance, and follow up with the people responsible.
- Perform or supervise quality controls during the shift.
Cross-departmental collaboration and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with production, purchasing, transportation and customer service to optimize receiving and delivery flows.
- Participate in cyclical inventories and continuous improvement projects (space, efficiency, safety).
- Contribute to planning based on seasonal variations in volume.
REQUIREMENTS, QUALITIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Attestation of Collegial Studies (AEC) in Transportation Logistics or Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) in Supply Chain Operations Management. Any combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
Experience and technical skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar position in warehouse supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise at least five employees.
- Hold a forklift operator skills card (seated lift required, standing lift an asset).
- Comfortable with computer systems, including the Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to quickly learn new IT tools (ERP, WMS).
- Languages: advanced French (oral and written), functional English. English is required to communicate when transferring to the United States.
- Ability to produce clear and structured reports.
- Ability to measure, read and interpret dimensions (tape measure) for handling, volume and shipping purposes.
