JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Supply Chain Director, the Buyer is responsible for purchasing the goods and services needed to support operations, maintenance, and the distribution center. He/she processes requisitions, issues and follows up on purchase orders, manages certain service contracts, and ensures that the needs of internal customers are met effectively in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
MRO Purchasing and Inventory Management (MRP)
- Analyze procurement needs related to production, maintenance, and the distribution center within the MRP system and make the necessary purchases.
- Perform MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations) purchases required to support business operations.
- Manage and optimize procurement parameters in the ERP (min/max, reorder points, quantities).
- Ensure the availability of parts, supplies and equipment according to operational priorities.
Operational purchasing and order management
- Process purchase requisitions in accordance with established procedures and approval levels.
- Issue, track and follow up on purchase orders for materials and services.
- Enter order receipts into the system and follow up on open orders, delivery delays, and urgent requests.
- Make day-to-day purchases from suppliers and online procurement platforms.
- Manage intercompany purchases within the Omega II Group.
Vendor and service contract management
- Search and solicit suppliers based on business needs.
- Obtain and compare prices, quotes, and purchasing terms.
- Administer service contracts (housekeeping, snow removal, landscaping, etc.), including renewals , requests for proposals, and reassessments of needs.
- Follow up on non-conformities related to products or services received.
Control and collaboration
- Approve supplier invoices and resolve discrepancies as needed.
- Collaborate with the maintenance, operations, production, accounting, sales and logistics teams.
- Work closely with engineering during new product development.
- Effectively manage priorities in a high-volume environment and maintain prompt service for internal customers.
- Stay up to date on best practices in purchasing and procurement.
REQUIREMENTS, QUALITIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Education: AEC or DEC in Supply Management or Bachelor of Business Administration with a specialization in Operations and Logistics Management; Any combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement in the manufacturing sector.
- Languages: Excellent command of French, both oral and written, and functional English to communicate occasionally with suppliers located outside of Quebec.
