JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Product Engineering, the Quality Director is responsible for structuring, standardizing and continuously improving the quality management system. As a Quality Director, you will ensure the implementation of consistent, documented and measurable quality practices, in line with the organization’s performance objectives.

Acting as a leader and agent of change, you will mobilize internal and external teams and stakeholders to implement sustainable solutions that aim to improve efficiency and quality compliance. You will implement corrective action plans that will eliminate source-related quality issues.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and supervision of the quality team

  • Lead, supervise and develop a multidisciplinary team of 4 people composed of inspectors, technicians and quality engineers.
  • Define team priorities, establish guidelines and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Support the development of team members’ skills and foster a climate of collaboration, accountability and performance.
  • Mobilize teams and support adherence to quality standards in the field.

 

Quality Management and Continuous Improvement

  • Define, communicate and deploy the quality strategy and objectives, in line with the company’s orientations.
  • Ensure the evolution of the quality management system, prioritizing initiatives according to their impact with a high operational impact.
  • Analyze and optimize existing quality processes (process mapping) to identify gaps, challenges, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Standardize inspection practices and deploy simple and effective tools adapted to production.
  • Implement and monitor corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) by aiming for sustainable and concrete solutions.
  • Actively participate in product development activities, including risk analysis (FMEA) and go-live.

 

Management of quality issues and operational performance

  • Manage non-conformities and customer/supplier complaints, including root cause analysis, implementation of corrective actions and satisfaction monitoring.
  • Develop and monitor quality performance indicators (KPIs), including the cost of non-quality and supplier performance.
  • Structure and document problem-solving processes and engineering change requests, as required.

 

REQUIREMENTS, QUALITIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial or related field) or technical college diploma or diploma of vocational studies in welding or relevant field.
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in quality in a manufacturing environment in a related sector of activity (manufacturing, sheet metal).
  • Experience in management or team leadership.
  • Significant experience in structuring, deploying or refining quality management systems.
  • Experience in process improvement in collaboration with production.
  • Languages: advanced French (oral and written), functional English.  English is required to communicate with customers or suppliers outside of Quebec.

 

Technical Skills – Quality

  • Mastery of quality management systems.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems (root causes, corrective actions).
  • Experience in managing non-conformities, customer complaints and supplier follow-up.
  • Good command of the Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

 

Leadership and implementation of high-performance quality practices

  • Mobilizing leadership and ability to influence.
  • Structuring and standardisation of quality processes.
  • Change management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strategic vision, prioritization and management by indicators (KPI).
  • Effective management of multiple projects and results-oriented.
